Beauty Around Us
This piece grew out of a character study for a children's book concept, exploring how a shy snail might express curiosity through posture and expression alone.
My approach:
I wanted this scene to feel like you've shrunk down to snail size, seeing the grass and mushrooms the way a bug would, towering and a little magical
Color and mood come first. I wanted this palette to feel like a warm afternoon in an overgrown garden, soft greens and golden light with little pops of color from the mushrooms
Character connection matters most to me. The tilt of the snail's head, the curl of its antennae, the dragonfly pausing mid air instead of flying past. Small choices that make two characters feel like they're actually relating to each other
I love building in quiet details. Even a simple setting should reward a second look, so I tucked in extra texture and small surprises throughout the grass
Good fit for: art prints, greeting cards, puzzles, and children's products
